Install and connect

Open the package

  1. Extract the complete portable QA ZIP into an unused local folder.
  2. Keep AP3DStudioCalibration.exe, its DLLs, CalibrationWorker, Demo, notices and Manual together. Do not run the EXE from inside the ZIP.
  3. Open AP3DStudioCalibration.exe. The package is unsigned development QA.
  4. Open Manual/index.html for this offline guide. Use the page navigation; search is available in the hosted MkDocs site.

The package contains the Swift and calibration worker runtimes and app-local Visual C++ Release runtime files. You do not need to install Python or Visual Studio to use it. Clean-PC verification remains pending. Windows x64 and a Direct3D-capable graphics driver are required; vendor capture drivers and the Windows Media Feature Pack, when needed for movie import, are separate.

Demo sessions are saved beneath your local application-data folder in AP3D Studio/CalibrationDemo. Normal .ap3dcal sessions and .ap3drun runs are saved where you choose. Keep their referenced captures and job folders.

Connect the SX40

  1. Leave Demo using Demo… → Exit Demo / New Session.
  2. In Setup, enter the SX40 address, select the expected firmware, then choose Connect. Use Refresh after changing processor settings.
  3. Check the reported model/version and the input, HDR, color, genlock and processing findings. Expand the selected finding for its readback details.
  4. For 3.4.9, confirm the processor locally at that address: serial/project identity is unavailable through this contract.

Connecting and refreshing are read-only. Processor changes use separate Prepare and Apply actions.

Choose input and output

Select a detected capture device and a supported mode, then start preview. For recordings, choose Import Media and select a movie or a contiguous numbered image sequence. The initial cadences are 24 and 23.976 (24000/1001). Hardware-discovered modes determine live resolution availability.

In Input Color, declare the exact curve/gamut, range and matrix actually sent by the camera. Presets include ARRI LogC3/LogC4, RED Log3G10, Sony S-Log3, Rec.709 SDR and linear ACEScg. A camera brand alone does not determine this. Account for any baked look before measuring. Apply the declared settings.

In Wall Patterns, choose the GPU display routed to the SX40, SDR or BT.2020/PQ encoding, cadence and reference white. Show Pattern starts physical presentation; Stop Output or Escape stops it. Confirm the signal and actual processor processing before recording calibration material.
