Camera RAW¶
Camera RAW support in AlexPearce3D Studio is package-dependent. A supported source requires both application integration and the matching vendor SDK/runtime. The presence of Camera RAW controls does not prove that a particular build contains every decoder.
Current direction¶
Blackmagic RAW (BRAW) is the first documented Camera RAW integration. RED R3D remains a separate integration with its own SDK, licensing, qualification, and release requirements.
Controls¶
When a Camera RAW source and decoder are available, the inspector can expose source metadata and processing controls such as:
- decode quality;
- clip or camera metadata defaults;
- white balance and tint;
- exposure, ISO, and related image controls;
- gamut and gamma or transfer-function choices;
- highlight recovery or gamut compression when supplied by the decoder.
The exact controls depend on the source format and SDK. Defaults should reproduce the decoder's intended camera or clip settings before creative changes are applied.
Color and export¶
RAW decode establishes the image delivered into the graph. Downstream color management, HDR mapping, and output transforms remain explicit graph or delivery decisions. Export uses the decoded and processed result; it does not re-encode a new camera-original RAW file.
Availability checks¶
Before production use:
- Confirm the selected beta package lists the required RAW runtime.
- Open representative camera originals, including metadata variants and long clips.
- Compare preview and export at matching frames.
- Confirm color settings and downstream transforms with a known reference.
See Availability for the release-level distinction between documented and included features.
