Quick Balance

  1. Connect and configure the signal path. In Wall Patterns, select Gray, set the intended level and show it on the wall.
  2. Set camera exposure and perform white balance on the camera. Lock WB, exposure and shutter. Studio does not remotely operate ARRI/RED/Sony WB.
  3. Apply the exact Input Color settings. Match the gray patch through Match Patch, then Save Matched Patch. Imported matching uses timed black/white/black markers followed by gray.
  4. Open Quick Balance → Gray & Camera WB, select the saved sample and choose Check Gray. Resolve clipping, stale setup or nonfinite findings.
  5. Enter the target, actual camera Kelvin/tint readout and camera/tint-scale label, then choose Record Camera WB. RGB samples do not infer Kelvin or the camera's tint units.

Adjust temperature and tint

Manual Offsets offers temperature and Studio tint adjustments on the saved camera sample. Choose Store Draft Offsets, select the original, then Build Candidate and inspect Before/After/Split. Positive temperature warms; positive Studio tint reduces green. Studio tint is independent of camera tint.

Stage Locally freezes the preview candidate. Export Candidate produces an ACEScg-linear creative preview LUT; it is not an SX40-ready calibration LUT. The SDR inspection preview can clip signed/HDR values retained in the original.

Processor Temperature and Guided Adjustment use the SX40's separate temperature transaction. Prepare reads the baseline; Apply is a deliberate processor-wide change. The proposed direction still needs physical checking. After Apply/readback, match new gray and record camera WB again. An old gray sample cannot authorize another guided step. Use Prepare Undo or the saved recovery flow when restoring the processor.

For full color correction in the processor, use full calibration.
